This painting was the depiction of the cowboy immersing himself into the lake of memory, though I wanted to help create a notion of fight, a feeling that is in-between falling and swimming, a feeling of forceful memory, an idea of never forgetting roots. The reason for the boots and hat is another form of reminder of roots, (my boots were my fathers, and my hat was my maternal grandfather),and being stripped of all else, and even tan lines show a time of warmth. Finding this lake is the first thing to do when coming to the underworld after death. If you fail to do so you will not carry any lessons learnt from this life to the next.
